Ben McCauley’s motors

New Chapter members Ben McCauley and Tony Robinson, both from Weatherford, TX got to talking after they joined the TX Chapter at our Spring Lake LBJ meet at Kingsland.  Ben was frustrated with his garage being so full of motors that he couldn’t walk around or get to anything.  They were everywhere, on the floor, leaning against the wall, hanging from the rafters, on the work bench, outside by the door.  Well you get the picture, they were scattered everywhere!  He only had 5 stands, a saw horse and the run stand outside. Once they got them all outside, the count was 67 mostly complete motors which doesn’t count all the parts and pieces.

Well Tony volunteered to help build some stands and get the place organized.  On a Saturday, he got there at 9 AM and Ben already had a bunch of the motors out in the yard.  Tony brought some lumber left over from another project.  And…after three trips to the hardware store, by 10 PM that night all 67 of them were put back up.  Ben and Tony built four stands five feet long.

What a set of bookends

They hold five motors apiece and are strong enough to strap down on the trailer and transport motors to shows.

Also in the pictures with all the motors you can see Ben’s Westerner Boat, and his Lonestar Admiral and Lonstar Commander.  He is planning on putting his Merc Mark 55 on the Admiral.  It ought to be fast.  Also Tony included a picture of a little Merc Ben restored.
