SUMMARY:Lake Houston Meet - July 17\, 2021
DESCRIPTION:Our annual summer meet for the Texas Chapter of the Antique Outboard Motor Club will be held on Saturday\, July 17th from 8:00AM until 5:00PM.This one-day boating/sell/swap meet is on Lake Houston\, a 14\,000 acre reservoir and a mere 20 minute drive from downtown Houston.   The meet is held on the south eastern side of the lake at the Indian Shores Community Center.  This facility is a lake-lodge style place resting relaxfully on 1.5 acres of beautiful waterfront.  Features that provide an excellent site for our meet include an air conditioned clubhouse (with indoor restrooms); easy slope\, double-wide boat ramp; picnic tables and shady trees.   A long pier and adjacent bulkheads provide for docking\, but be sure and bring extra boat bumpers or cushions to protect your boat. \nThis event has turned into a great relaxing family meet.  Chapter member John Platou lives on the lake and will lead us on a boat parade.  Like always\, make sure that you have the normal state-required safety gear on your boat along with your registration. \nFor lunch\, we’ll be grilling up some great hot dogs with all the fixin’s for a nominal cost per person. \nAnyone coming from out of town can make reservations for a reasonable cost at the Best Western Plus\, a 15 minute drive from the event at: 281-852-5665. Mention that you are with the Antique Outboard Motor Club.  The Indian Shores Community Center does not have a formal address\, but the nearest address(for GPS use) is directly next door at: 20719 Appaloosa\, Crosby\, Texas 77532. \nSo we can plan a head count for lunch\, please contact Adam Finn by email or phone before the event (include the total # in your party).  John Platou is the primary contact for this event at: 832-473-8928 or email at John.platou@yahoo.com . \n \n  \nBring your boats\, motors and ”stuff” you wish to sell and join us for a fun filled day on the lake.

SUMMARY:62nd Annual Houston Boat Show
DESCRIPTION:@ the NRG Center (Former Reliant/Astro Hall)\nThe Southwest Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society (SW ACBS) and the Texas Chapter of the Antique Outboard Motor Club (TXAOMCI) cordially invite you to come show your boats and outboard motors at this world class boat show. We have enough shared space for 15 boats and several clusters of motors. \nAs a fan of antique and classic boats and motors\, if you haven’t experienced this show\, you are in for a treat. Picture this…our oasis of classic woodies and motors is the entryway into the NRG assemblage of hundreds of dealers hawking 1000+ new plastic boats and motors that don’t at all resemble the art deco beauties we love and cherish. It’s very pleasing to enjoy the expressions on the faces of hundreds of folks attending the show when they get a look at our really cool vintage stuff. Our displays draw on deep memories and often spark conversations like\, “My dad or granddad use to have this or that…” or “Do you remember…?” and more. We attract many\, many visitors who ask some of the most interesting questions and you get to be the “go-to” answer guy with your hobby experience and knowledge. \nWe would like for interested members to consider the following: \nFirst…come show your boat(s) and/or motors. \nSecond\, come and help with the set-up (date to be announced) and /takedown of our display on Sunday Jan 15th at 5 PM. \nThird\, come help man our display booth during the show. \nAdditionally\, SW ACBS is again sponsoring Kids Build a Boat\, Kids Rebuild a Motor and Kids Paint a Boat hands-on projects on the weekend days of the show. This is a lot of fun and you are cordially invited to help our builder team coach the kids working these projects \nShow entry for exhibitors/booth workers/boat builder coaches is free\, but we only have a limited roster for passes\, so we can’t admit all our club members on “the freebie” en mass. \nShow parking for everyone attending or working the show (including exhibitors and booth workers) is $12.00/day with reentry privileges that same day. \n  \nShow hours are: \nFriday\, Jan 6th\, 1 PM to 8 PM \nSaturday & Sunday\, Jan 7th -8th 11 AM to 8 PM \nMonday & Tuesday\, Jan 9th-10th\, 11 AM to 8 PM \nWednesday & Thursday Jan 11th – 12th\, 1 PM to 8 PM \nFriday Jan 13th\, 1PM to 9 PM \nSaturday\, Jan 14th\, 11 AM to 9 PM \nSunday\, Jan 15th\, 11 AM to 5 PM \nDi Johnson from the SW ACBS and Adam Finn of TX AOMCI are once again coordinating to organize this event and are encouraging good participation from our club members. \nPlease contact either: \nAdam @ 713-823-4091 or by email – adfinn59@icloud.com \nDi @ 281-682-0968 or by email – dijohnson47@comcast.net \n\n \n

SUMMARY:Lake Jacksboro Shootout
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe NBRA Hydroracing (Outboards) will hold sanctioned racing at  Lake Jacksboro\,TX this weekend ( about 20 miles NW of Fort Worth on TX-199) . The National Boat Racing Association website (http://www.racenbra.net/)  is dedicated to the enjoyment and racing of Stock and Modified (Mod) outboard hydroplanes and runabouts. \nTesting is on Friday 8/16\, racing in various classes on Saturday 8/17 and Sunday 8/18. \nThe competition may only last for three laps but the friendships made here will last forever.  There are clubs all across the United States and everyone is welcome to come and join us at a race.  We frequently offer classes about racing at our events and perhaps you will choose to join us.  Those who complete ground school successfully may receive the opportunity to take a ride in one of these amazing boats. \n \nThis is their 2nd year here\, and they are fun to watch\, and the drivers and their support people are extremely friendly to visitors. Both my sons and I totally enjoyed the racing last year. Last year the rain caused a shortened number of races\, but the weather looks very good for this year. \nIf you have any questions about getting into boat racing call Jeff Ruth at (479) 927-2847. \nReporting from Dave Samstag\, \n
